Eat, Sleep, Poop, Repeat

I'm terrible at maintaining this blog.....sorry.

So, it's December 2014.  What has happened? Well, we had a second kid, a little boy.  He was born November 1st.  That keeps us busy.  Season wise, I completed my first 1/2 Ironman, and 2 Olympic distance races (one of them was at sea level, so I cut 20 minutes off of my PR) and one sprint.

This off season hasn't really been much of one....I'm still training six days a week at a fairly decent intensity level.

Coach and I are going to sit down next week and plan out next years schedule.  Oh, for shits and giggles, I entered the lottery for Kona.  Knowing my luck, I'll probably get in, just like my first triathlon ever was a lottery for Escape from Alcatraz.

If I don't get in (hopefully), I'm leaning towards IM Cozumel.  It's usually the Sunday after Thanksgiving, so we'll have the holiday in Mexico.

Sorry I haven't updated in a long time, but my life has been pretty boring....swim, bike, run, repeat.
Now with the new baby, I've added eat, sleep, poop, repeat into the mix...

It's been a while.....

Sorry I haven't posted in so long.  That's mainly because I'm lazy....at least when it comes to maintaining my blog.  So what has happened since my last post in February?  Well, lets see...
My training time has increased, and my weight and waistline have decreased.  I'm down to around 200 lbs (90 kilos for the rest of the world) and my pant size has dropped down to a respectable 33.  Considering I weighed around 239 when I started, and was a size 38, I'm pleased with the results so far.

As for races,

I ran a 5k race (and won my age group with a time of 22:58),
I competed in a sprint distance tri with a time of 1:30, and
I competed in an olympic distance tri with a time of 2:59.

Some interesting tidbits: in the olympic race, I cut 7 minutes off of my swim time from the last olympic (in Düsseldorf), 6 minutes off my bike time, and a whopping 10 minutes off of my run time!

I am gearing up for my 1/2 iron distance on September 7th, and for fun I signed up for another olympic distance on September 21st (the day after my 44th birthday).

My goal for the 1/2 iron is a time under 6 hours.

Thanks for reading!

The Miles are adding up

Since I started my IM training on September 2nd,  I have amassed quite a bit of mileage.

I have swam over 45 miles
I have biked over 700 miles
I have run over 160 miles

Almost a 1000 miles under my own power!

-Oh, and (so far) I've lost about 25 pounds!
